Polka Luka is an independent Australian design label, headed by Alexandra Freeman. Polka Luka creates limited edition resin jewellery pieces focusing on clean lines, bold colour, and organic form. Polka Luka pieces move beyond fleeting notions of trend based fashion, creating designs which are both contemporary and timeless.

Designer
Creative Director and owner of Polka Luka, Alexandra Freeman graduated from a combined Art History- Fine Arts (Textiles) and Asian Studies degree in 2001. This was followed by four years living in rural China and travel through South East Asia, where she was engaged in cultural conservation work. During this time, she was exposed to the unique craft and artisan techniques- the embroidery and weaving of people living in this area and the simple functionality of traditional clothing. A love of costume, colour, and design encouraged Alexandra to continue studies in garment construction and jewellery design in 2003, and in 2006, Alexandra jumped in full time to design, launching the first Polka Luka range in 2007.

Production Processes
In Polka Luka, emphasis is put on production processes that are ethically and socially responsible. Designed in Australia, and manufactured within three family workshop environments in Bali, the Polka Luka production process is both ethical, traceable, and supportive of a creative artisan culture. This small scale production, commitment to fair trade terms, sustainable use of materials and strong, and innovative design, make a Polka Luka product a highly covetable purchase.
